Project: Youth engagement in conservation science

Project Objectives:

As part of our co-developed long-term freshwater monitoring activities, are providing field science education and training to Moose Cree youth ages 15-25, to empower them to become the future stewards of the wildlife, habitats, and ecosystems of their Homeland, as their ancestors have always been. Our project combines Indigenous traditional knowledge and modern science to promote Moose Cree youth as future conservation leaders, decision-makers, and managers, to assure long-term protection of their lands, waters, and wildlife. Participants include both on- and off-reserve youth who wish to obtain useful experiences and skills in conservation that they can bring to future educational and career opportunities.
