Granted $5,000.00 for food for OWL for 3 months.
Project Objectives:
The Owl Foundation is a registered charity in southern Ontario, specializing in helping injured or orphaned owls (and other raptors). We strive to return them to the wild.
We currently have over 50 owls on site, including residents, orphaned, and rehabilitation cases in different stages of healing.
In 2023 we admitted 217 birds of prey. One of our largest expenses is owl food. We have two suppliers that we utilize to keep our ‘larder’ stocked with frozen mice.
In addition to purchasing frozen mice, we breed mice. We cannot possibly breed enough to meet our daily needs, but it does help offset some of the costs. Volunteers maintain our breeding colony with routine cleaning, watering and feeding.
